1961 Chevrolet Impala
New for the 1961 model year this is a very rare Impala (1 of approx. 1800) built as a 2-Door sedan featuring a single post and flat “canopy” roof. This South Carolina car was repainted in 1983 and since 2007 the following has been done: Cragar S/S wheels installed, N.O.S. front grille, new exhaust system, door hinge adjustments, cowl rubber body mounts, turn indicator replaced, trunk resprayed, 4 new bumper bolts. Inside you’ll find the original black vinyl bench seat free of any major rips or tears. Seatbelts have been installed, as well as a new shifter handle and original radio delete plate. A CD player has been mounted in the glovebox. Under the hood the factory 283 and 2-speed Powerglide has been replaced with a 350 cu in crate V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The motor breathes through a 600 cfm Edelbrock carburetor. The valve covers and air cleaner are period correct for 1961. Recently replaced parts include the water pump, copper wiring for the oil gauge, front disc brakes, dual master cylinder with booster, brake & fuel lines, fuel tank sensor, fuel filler neck, 6 blade radiator fan, original ram horn manifolds, new hoses, distributor plug wires & looms, clutch, shifter & linkage – Muncie & Hurst, harmonic balancer, fuel pump, brake proportioning valve, breathers, splash guards on engine, steering box – rebuilt, new ignition coil, rear brake cylinder. 1961 Accessories Installation Reference Manual, 1961 Chevrolet Owners guides, and 1961 Chevrolet passenger Car Shop Manuals are also available.
