1957 Ford Thunderbird
In its third year of production Ford’s two-seat sporty convertible the Thunderbird was graced with several design changes, including a lengthened rear end to accommodate the spare tire in the trunk, fashionable tail fins and front grille, as well as a new front bumper. Marketed from the get-go as a personal luxury car, the 1957 models featured a 312 cu in (5.1L) V8 under the hood. Power was sent through the reliable Ford-O-Matic 2-speed automatic transmission. Record sales accompanied the Thunderbird in 1957, making it one of the most recognizable cars of the decade.
